The 7 Lakes tour is one of the most beautiful routes in the entire Vilcanota range, where you will witness the imposing Ausangate, one of the five highest snow peaks in Peru. You will have the opportunity to connect with the purest side of nature and contemplate a beautiful place in the Cusco Andes surrounded by lakes of different hues.
In addition, you will soak in the Pacchanta hot springs to relax before enjoying a traditional lunch prepared by a local family that will kindly welcome us in their home. This is a one-day excursion in which you will discover Indigenous communities that still keep their culture and traditions alive.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Then we travel by tourist transport for approximately 3 hours to the village of Pacchanta. There we have breakfast and begin the hike: we ascend little by little until we reach our first lake, and so on with the following ones.
The hike lasts 5 hours round trip. Along the way we visit lakes of different colors—blues, turquoises, and greens. Some of them are large and look like natural mirrors. The lakes to visit are: Azulcocha, Otorongo, Pucacocha, Alqacocha, Q’omercocha, Orqo Otorongo, and China Otorongo. Along the route we also spot Andean birds, alpacas, llamas, and vizcachas.
After that we return to Pacchanta, where we enjoy a delicious lunch and relax in the hot springs. Then we return to the city of Cusco, arriving approximately at 7:30 p.m.
The hike lasts approximately 5 hours, not counting transfers between Cusco and Pacchanta.
Hotel pickup in Cusco is scheduled for approximately 4:00 a.m.
The route is described as easy to moderate difficulty and takes place at high altitude, so prior acclimatization is important to consider.
The circuit starts and ends in the community of Pacchanta, located at approximately 4,200 m a.s.l.
No. The program includes time to visit the hot springs, but entrance to the pools is not included in the tour price.
We recommend bringing a backpack, warm clothing, sun protection, trekking footwear, water, and rain protection. If you wish to use the hot springs, also bring a swimsuit, towel, and sandals.
