On the City Tour you will visit 5 of the most important historic sites in Cusco, starting with the Temple of the Sun, Qoricancha—during the Inca period and converted into the Temple of Santo Domingo by the Spanish conquerors—located within the Historic Center. In the second part of your tour we travel back to the times of the Inca Empire and visit the 4 archaeological sites around Cusco: Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay.
This is a half-day tour and you can choose to do it in the morning or in the afternoon.
City Tour offered every day from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
First we visit the Temple of the Sun or Inca Palace, Qoricancha (entrance not included in the tourist ticket). Here you can learn about Inca and Spanish architecture and their cultural fusion in this sacred temple.
Then we head in our van to the impressive Inca site of Sacsayhuamán, located on the outskirts of the city. Our expert guide will take you on a tour of this impressive fortress and you will have time to explore it on your own. We continue our route with a visit to the temple of Qenqo, a mystical place full of history. Next we visit the small circular Inca military fortress of Puca Pucara and, finally, we explore the water temple of Tambomachay.
No. At Sacsayhuamán you have to walk through the archaeological site, but it is a calm walk and you can go at your own pace. In general, the tour does not require much physical effort and is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. In addition, on this tour we use a van to move from one site to another, which makes the route easier and allows us to cover more ground in less time. That way we can visit the archaeological sites outside the city—Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay—comfortably and efficiently. Our guide will be with you at all times to provide detailed information about each place.
The Tourist Ticket is a personal ticket and is not sold in advance. Because each person has different interests and preferences, and some sites are not mandatory, we have chosen not to include the cost of the tourist ticket in the tour price so that you can choose the sites you wish to visit and pay only for what interests you. In this way you can have a personalized experience adjusted to your interests.
The City Tour is a more detailed and complete experience than the panoramic bus tour. On the City Tour each place is visited and you have the opportunity to explore it in depth, while on the panoramic bus tour only a panoramic visit is made without going into the details of each attraction. In addition, on the City Tour there is a tour guide who provides detailed information about the history and culture of each place visited, which enriches the travelers’ experience.
